Tenet - No Spoiler Review

Posted : 3 years, 7 months ago on 29 August 2020 04:26 (A review of Tenet)

Where to start with the most Chris Nolan Chris Nolan film imaginable, taking themes he has played with over several films and super charged here with Tenet Nolan has produced something that although sometimes incoherent was never anything but entertaining.ย The spectacle is so exhilarating the action so enthralling, the fact that Nolan continues to use practical effects where possible makes his films a cut above as the action is however audacious always looks believable, tangible even. Tenet is not so much a film but an experience to be absorbed.ย

However, whilst the actors are likeable (Robert Pattinson impresses as the suave Neil) the characters in Tenet never seem to exist in anything resembling a reality, they are purely conduits moving the action forward in service to the idea of the Film. The plot is difficult to follow with sections of dialogue being incomprehensible possibly by design. You will have to work hard to follow the various twists and turns and some of the audience may lose patience. Even an hour or so after the film you are left questioning if what you have just seen actually made any sense. Has it been cleverly put together or have gaping plot holes been concealed in impossible to follow exposition? ย

Whilst Nolans Tenet is difficult to love it is a hugely impressive technical achievement that requires repeat viewing on the biggest screen you can find.ย
